Bracketology 2/13

The 1 seed line continues to grow strong. Dayton and Duke seem to have a pretty strong hold and the first two seed lines. Unfortunately for the Flyers, one loss could send them tumbling.

BYU is going to be hard to place if they stay on the 8/9 line. They have to play a in a one seeds pod that plays Thursday/Saturday and in a region that has a Thursday/Saturday location. They can’t play in Gonzaga’s pod due to them playing each other twice in a year. San Diego State will probably play in a region where the final is Friday/Sunday. This leaves them with Baylor and Kansas who both would most likely play in Omaha which is a Friday/Sunday location. This will be tough for the committee to decide. Do you move one of the one seeds to St. Louis even though it is farther to fit BYU who can’t play on Sunday due to a religious exemption. A lot can change by selection Sunday, so this could all clear up.

Louisville’s loss against Georgia Tech eliminates their claim for a one seed for now. They have to be careful as FSU, Auburn, Penn State and West Virginia are all breathing down their neck for the last two seed. Creighton is also making a surge to be one of top 16 with their road victory over Seton Hall.

VCU’s bubble chances took a huge hit last night as they fell to George Mason at home. The quad 4 loss will be a huge blemish on their resume. They have a tough stretch of at Richmond, home against Dayton and at St. Louis. If they could come out 2-1 they might play their way back into the field.

Oklahoma also seems to be peaking at the right time and have climbed from a play-in game all they way to a 10 seed for me. With Kansas and Baylor up next, they could find themselves climbing up to a 9, or even an 8 seed, with a victory.
